How high should I mount my tv or is there a correct height to mount my tv?
I’m asked these questions by every customer. Surprisingly there is no right answer. Generally I suggest the top of the tv to be 1700mm to 1900 mm from the floor, however it’s a subjective thing and depends on a few factors.
- How big your TV is
- Dimensions of the room
- Type of room and it’s use
- Construction of the wall the TV is being mounted on
- Furniture in the room

Let’s have a look a bit deeper.
If you have a large tv going into a small room you don’t want to be lifting your head to see the screen. We would mount the tv a bit lower or vice versa for a larger room.
I mount TV’s higher in a bedroom as the angle you view the TV changes from a sitting position. Now you’re in a lying position. This way you won’t need to prop your head up thus hurting your neck.
If your wall is a difficult construction to mount exactly where you’d like the tv to be or your tv is quite large and heavy we will need to mount it where it’s going to be safe and secure from falling down in the long term.
If you have a high cabinet under where your tv is going to be wall mounted then the top of the tv will be higher.
